to the Montague Wellness Centre's Proposed Recreation Facility
For approximately forty years
the Iceland Arena has been a recreation centerpiece. Whether attending
a hockey game, skating tournament or graduation ceremony, most residents
of the area have been a part of this storied venue in some way over the
years.
Although it has been well used, the current Iceland Arena is an aging facility that is well beyond repair in an economical way. There is insufficient land available to expand the Arena in its current location. Also, the existing 640 square foot library – currently located in the Town Hall – is not adequate to serve the needs of the more than 4,300 registered users.
