WATERFRONT
Seasonal staff are employed by the Montague Waterfront Development Corporation, a not-for-profit corporation comprised of six elected directors and one Town Council representative. Currently directors are Niall MacKay (Chairperson), David White (Vice Chair), Doug Holm, Jack Garnhum, Al Roach, Lenore Lubbert and councillor Bernie Crawford.
The marina operates from May 1 to October 31 and can accommodate approximately fifty boats on floating docks. Six to eight berthages are reserved for visiting vessels (with minimum drafts of less than twelve feet.)
Washrooms w/showers, premium gasoline and unmarked diesel fuel, a mast crane (for boats +/- 30 ft.), concrete launch ramp, and concrete crane pad are on the site. Night watchman and security gates are also employed.
Periodic entertainment performs at the gazebo and the Waterfront is often the site for recreational activities and events. It serves as one of the entry points for the Confederation Trail, which is used daily by walkers and cyclists. The Montague Waterfront is a linear park located on Station Street on the north side of the Montague River, on the former C.N. Railroad property. It consists of the Municipal Marina and “The Station”, acquired by the Town in 1984. Since that time the building has housed a visitor centre, and presently a gift shop, café, and the office of Cruise Manada (seal watching cruises).
