COMMITTEES
TOWN PROMOTION, TOURISM, RECREATION & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE
The mandate of the Town Promotion, Environment, Tourism and Recreation Committee is:
- to review and make recommendations for advertising and other matters pertaining to Town promotion;
- to review and recommend to Council on such matters as entering competitions such as Communities in Bloom;
- to recommend policies and programs (including highway signage) to market Montague as a successful tourist destination;
- to recommend policies and programs respecting the development and usage of parks and recreational facilities and services, including but not limited to playgrounds and sports fields;
- to liaise with various groups providing sport and/or recreational services within the town including, but not limited to, the Wellness Centre, Curling Club and Waterfront Development Corporation;
- to recommend policies and programs respecting environmental issues.

FINANCE, PUBLIC WORKS & UTILITIES COMMITTEE
The mandate of the Public Works and Utilities Committee is:
- to advise Council on all fiscal matters, including the development of the annual operating and capital budgets including rates for taxation;
- to recommend payments of municipal grants to boards, commissions, volunteer committees and charitable organizations;
- to recommend policies and programs respecting the operations of the maintenance department with respect to the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks and other public property;
- to recommend capital improvement projects for streets, sidewalks and other public properties;
- to recommend proposed changes to the town’s street lighting program;
- to recommend policies and programs respecting to operations and maintenance of the water supply and distribution system and the sewerage collection and treatment systems;

POLICE, FIRE AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
The mandate of the Police, Fire and Public Safety Committee is:
- to review and make recommendations with respect to bylaws, such as public nuisances, animal control, and dangerous and unsightly premises;
- to perform the duties of the Emergency Measures Standing Committee as outlined in the Emergency measures Bylaw;
- to liaise with the RCMP respecting policing services;
- to liaise with the Montague Volunteer Fire Department respecting fire protection.

PLANNING BOARD
The mandate of the Planning Board is:
- to prepare and recommend to Council any proposed changes to the Official Plan;
- to recommend to Council any bylaws in respect to the Official Plan (Zoning, Subdivision, Building, Signage);
- to report to Council regularly on planning matters;
- to perform such other duties of a planning nature as may be requested by council.

VISION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT and ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
The mandate of the Vision, Economic Development and Administration Committee is:
- to review and make recommendations with respect to future vision;
- to liaise with other communities and report to Council on possible areas of co-operation and regionalization;
- to review and recommend to Council direction for future development and economic growth;
- in conjunction with the CAO, to complete yearly staff reviews and recommend to Council any changes in pay or other incentives;
- in conjunction with the CAO, recommend to Council any bylaws, policies and/or procedures with respect to staffing and administration.
